 Our Approach to Sports/Performance enhancement:

“Proprioception” is the body’s ability to know spatially where each limb/body part exists in space in order to react quickly when we tread on non-advantageous grounds.  A soccer player, for example, will need to use extraordinary proprioception to maneuver a soccer ball, guard the ball by quickly moving its location, and dodge competitors while running on uneven surfaces at high speed-all without spraining an ankle. Of course, not all of these maneuvers are done in one straight line down a field.

Our proprioceptors become even more stimulated when we quickly change directions. In this example, a soccer player will be moving forwards or backwards in a straight plane (termed the sagittal plane), side to side (termed frontal plane) and sometimes in rotational movements such as pivoting and twisting (termed the transverse plane). It is imperative to recognize that our world is three-dimensional and, therefore, our training should be too.

Yet, despite all these dynamic movements that are so evident in sports and basic human movement, many athletes spend too much time on weight machines that are non-weight-bearing during their training. This means that they sit on a seat or lie down on a bench, working their muscles in non-functional methods.

Anna will help integrate your current training program with a sport specific, 3-dimensional and proprioceptive stimulating method to help you maximize your performance. She has helped many individuals fully realize their sport’s performance goals and aspirations through a sport specific training and conditioning program designed specifically for you.

Anna has loved hearing stories of her patients tearfully expressing their happiness in not only overcoming painful injuries though excelling in sports better than they ever have even pre-injury. This is due to the amazing teamwork and dedication she shares with each patient as well as her ability to bring together harmony and efficiency in human movement to maximize sports performance.
